Debra Windsong

Blues Harp, Percussion & Vocal

Debra has been playing harmonica up and down the coast of California for 30+ years. Her style has some of the grit from her east coast birthplace, the Bronx, NY.  But it wasn’t until she arrived in California and went to an intimate concert by two older black men, Cephas & Wiggins, a blues guitarist and a harmonica player, that she got hooked on the idea of playing the blues on harmonica. From there she grew to tackle the diversity and challenge of playing a variety of genres on harmonica. This has led her to play with many different types of bands, and sit in with some famous musicians- such as Bo Diddley, Eric Burden from the Animals, Robby Krieger from the Doors and Michael Franti.

Debra is a passionate and soulful player. Her ability to keep the beat with percussion while playing the harmonica and singing, makes her a valuable addition to any group of seasoned players. The Mojo Combo is grateful and proud to have her on our team!
